Sorta unpopular opinion time:
This is how I see the Axis Power Hetalia fandom. Mostly a collection of people need to take a serious history lesson. At the Gulags.
Yes, there are non-horrible fans. Heck, I’m giving the fandom the benefit of the doubt and say that there are probably a few non-horrible Germany cosplayers. But the more I learn about the bad side of the fandom, the less I want to have anything to do with anyone in the fandom, including many nice people I follow, who do not deserve a train ticket to Siberia. But if you “laugh at history class because the teacher said ‘Germany invaded Poland’”, say the show “made war cute” and that “nazi boys are sexy, or take group photos doing the nazi salute*, then I have nothing but deep, unbridled contempt for you.
*the infamous photo was taken on passover and just few blocks away from a holocaust museum. Benefit of the doubt, they might have not been aware of this, but damning enough, the photo was taken in the vicinity of human goddamn decency.
This is just about exactly how I feel about Hetalia fandom as well.
